Claude can now send emails in Gmail and manage files in Google Drive
Claude now supports sending emails in Gmail and managing files in Google Drive, including replying to threads, forwarding messages, moving files, and managing sharing permissions. Users can control whether Claude needs approval before sending messages. The features are available on all paid plans through the connectors menu.
If you're confused like I was and remember Claude already had Gmail and Google Drive capabilities, you're right. But what's new? For Gmail: sending emails, replying directly to threads, forwarding messages. For Google Drive: moving existing files, sharing files/changing permissions, moving files to trash. Unfortunately I couldn't find the crucial feature—handling Gmail attachments—while ChatGPT can already do that today. Too bad.
What specific email operations can Claude now perform in Gmail?
Claude can now send emails, reply directly to threads, and forward messages. Previously it could read Gmail but could not independently perform these action-based operations without additional user interaction.
What new capabilities does Claude have with Google Drive?
New operations include moving existing files, managing sharing (sharing files and changing permissions), and deleting files to trash. Claude could already read files and create new documents in previous versions.
How do users enable access to Gmail and Google Drive?
Users connect these services through the connectors menu in Claude. The features are available on all paid plans.
