Huawei MateBook Pro S brings Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra privacy display technology to laptops
Huawei presented the MateBook Pro S laptop with an innovative privacy-focused display technology. The screen employs a dual-pixel design inspired by Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra, but Huawei claims its implementation is more efficient: it maintains 100% pixel utilization in privacy mode, while Samsung's approach operates at only 50% capacity. The notebook features a 14.2-inch OLED panel with 3,120 × 2,080 pixel resolution, the Kirin XE90 processor, and is currently available in China starting at approximately $1,525.
So far we've heard that Chinese manufacturers plan to bring this feature to their mobile phones. Huawei shows it can be useful elsewhere too. Too bad we don't know if the laptop will come to the Czech market.
How does the privacy display technology on the MateBook Pro S work?
Huawei uses a dual-pixel design where two independent sets of pixels are integrated into the same OLED panel—one for standard sharing mode and another for a privacy view visible only to the user facing the screen. A dedicated one-click switch toggles between modes, and the display can detect when someone looks over the user's shoulder and send an alert.
How does Huawei's approach differ from Samsung's Flex Magic Pixel?
Both systems black out the display when viewed from side angles without a physical filter, but Huawei claims superior efficiency. While Samsung loses brightness and resolution in privacy mode and operates at 50% pixel utilization, Huawei maintains 100% pixel capacity without quality degradation.
